In the New Covenant, prayer is the living relationship of the children of God with their Father who is good beyond measure, with his Son Jesus Christ and with the Holy Spirit… Thus, the life of prayer is the habit of being in the presence of the thrice-holy God and in communion with him. (CCC 2565)
Members of the Newman CLC recognize that our relationship with God is the foundation of our self-understanding and our relationships with others. Newman CLC members intentionally strive to deepen and expand our prayer life, both individually and in community.
Seek the company of good people. If you share their company, you will also share their virtue. (St. Isidore of Seville)
Our namesake, St. John Henry Newman, realized that friendship and community were essential to living a Christian way of life. Members of the Newman CLC recognize that our intentional living community is a school of virtue in which we learn to love our neighbor as ourselves through encouragement, accountability, and shared responsibility.
The greatest kindness one can render to any man is leading him to truth. (St. Augustine)
As members of the Newman CLC and BGSU communities, we recognize that our present vocation is to be a student. Newman CLC members are committed to intellectual growth both by cultivating a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith and advancing their BGSU studies. It is through both sacred and secular studies that we will give glory to God.
All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ, for he himself will say: I was a stranger and you welcomed me (St. Benedict)
The Newman CLC calls the St. Thomas More campus our home. We are committed to make all who set foot on this campus feel seen, welcomed, and loved in the name of Christ.
